Why is AMP Bank discontinuing cheque services?

Over the past two decades, the banking landscape in Australia has changed as banking technology advances and customers transition towards digital transactions. With cheques now in steady decline and accounting for only 0.1 per cent of all payments across the Australian payment landscape, more and more payment service providers are moving away from cheque processing.

As a digital bank, we have made a decision to phase out cheques and instead focus on providing our customers with faster, reliable digital services to fulfill their payment needs.

What alternative banking options do I have?

When you bank with us, you can access your funds in many ways. This includes internet banking using your desktop, mobile app using your smartphone or tablet, PayID, AMP Visa Debit Card and BPAY. More information about ways to bank can be found above.

I need a bank cheque. How do I get a bank cheque?

On and from 11 May 2024, we will no longer issue bank cheques.

If you would like to receive a bank cheque relating to your deposit account, please contact us on 13 30 30 or before 7 May 2024 to ensure we have time to process your request.

I still receive cheques on a regular basis. What should I do?

On and from 24 November 2024 – We will no longer accept for deposit, personal cheques or cheques issued by other financial institutions.

Please ensure personal cheques and cheques issued by other financial institutions are provided to AMP Bank by 19 November 2024 to allow time to process your request.

This means you should consider requesting payments be made to you digitally into your nominated bank account between now and before 23 November 2024 in preparation for this change.
